PLATIPUS
Contrary to the title of this album, it’s certainly never unexpected to find the mighty Platipus returning with another quality product. This album does offer something different however, as it marks the start of a new chapter in the life of this prolific label, which is great to hear at a time when so many producers seem to be stuck for new ideas. Relying on the vast experience of possibly their best known artist Simon Berry (aka Art Of Trance) we are presented with two very different yet very entertaining parts to the album. In the first, our host brings us at a steady, almost chilled out pace, the very latest and greatest in prog house. In the 2nd we are given a good helping of what the Art of Trance does best as its name suggests - some damn classy euphoric trance - with very nice efforts indeed from the likes of the Thrillseekers, Haak, System F and LSG. As usual you can rely on Platipus to bring you quality production and the Art of Trance does not disappoint with a decent mix considering how many big tunes are thrown into the pot. Add to that the variation in pace and style on offer there’s plenty here to keep you occupied as we wait impatiently for the next release from this ever reliable label. AT
