Seb Taylor is a busy fellow, as trance veteran Shakta, and one half of Buddha Bar bothering Angel Tears, he’s also responsible for the world grooves of Kaya Project. Last years “Walking Through” was well received (I even bought the T-Shirt!), and this release builds on the quality and flow of that album with another collection of deep global fusion. What sets this album apart from the profusion of similar “ethnic beats” sample CD heavy sets is the large amount of original material recorded on Seb’s travel through India, Thailand and (slightly less exotically) in London with respected world musicians. The use of live musicians seems to work well in blending the Eastern influences with modern arrangements, making them feel an integral part of the tunes rather than a bolted on extra. The blurb with the album reckons its ideal for “bars, cafes, lounges, DJs, festivals, entertaining, chilling out, yoga, healers, spas and personal environments”. I’m not really qualified to comment on most of those but can recommend it for bringing a bit of exotica to a rainy Sheffield afternoon! You can always seem to rely on Interchill for quality down tempo albums – so top marks for another cracking release. JM
