If you know your trance, Above and Beyond require no introduction. Over the last 5 years the trio have undeniably taken the industry by storm with more singles and remixes than you could shake a glo-stick at, and lets not forget the award winning Radio 1 Essential Mix. After 2 years in the making, their first album Tri-State has arrived on the shelves and really delivers with 13 tracks of monstrously epic proportions. Theres great variation in the tunes, ranging from breakbeat, to progressive house and of course plenty of uplifting trance with a number of top quality vocalists contributing throughout. A few of the tracks such as World on Fire, and my favourite Air for Life (produced with Andy Moor), have already been doing the damage it across the worlds dance-floors and there is no doubt more to come from the album. The programming is superb with each track simply melting into the next and if you thought that was impressive, the quality of the production is totally off the scale. A spine tingling emotional rollercoaster of an album with so much atmosphere you could easily imagine it as the soundtrack to your night ahead. AT
