Many readers of Upfront Magazine will have spent some of their Fri nights jumping up and down to a pounding mixture of acid techno, nu-nrg and hard house supplied courtesy of Sheffield’s legendary Headcharge. Although, due to the closure of its spiritual home the Arches, the parties have become few and far between in recent times, some of those memories from throughout the Headcharge history can be rekindled and relived in the form of a new book, ‘Headcharge: Photographs by Karl Lang’. Karl is the Sheffield-based photographer who regularly braved the sweaty, pulsating masses so that he could take the photos that would later appear in the Headcharge website photo galleries. The photographs in this book span the club’s inception in ‘98 up to the present day, and successfully capture the atmosphere, colour and intensity of the Headcharge experience.
